Health Equity and Advocacy Learning for Independent Doctors

Join Dr Itunu Johnson-Sogbetun on Tuesday 28th January at the Medical Society of London for an engaging and interactive course.

This 90-minute session will feature a blend of lectures, case studies, and group discussions, allowing participants to actively apply their learning in real time and gain a practical understanding of the topics covered.

Course Objectives:

  • Understand Health Disparities: Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of health disparities and the social determinants that contribute to inequities.
  • Recognize Bias: We will explore implicit biases in healthcare and strategies to mitigate their impact on patient care.
  • Advocacy Skills: The course will develop participants' advocacy skills, including self-advocacy, to promote health equity within clinical settings and the broader healthcare system.
  • Practical Application: Through case studies and interactive discussions, participants will learn to apply their knowledge in practical, real-world scenarios, ensuring they are well-versed in Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) principles.

CPD certificates will be issued following the meeting.

 

 

Dr Itunu Johnson-Sogbetun MBBS BSc MRCP MRCGP DFSRH DRCOG:

 Dr Itunu Johnson-Sogbetun is an experienced General Practitioner with over a decade in clinical practice, specialising in women’s health, sexual and reproductive health, and menopause care. With a background in general internal medicine, she delivers holistic and personalised care in both the NHS and private sectors. Passionate about health equity, she leads the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion strategy for the RCGP North West London Faculty Board and founded HEAL for Black People to educate and advocate for the Black community. Dr Johnson-Sogbetun also serves as a GP tutor and examiner at Queen Mary’s University of London Medical School.
