Privacy Policy

The Independent Doctors Federation (IDF) is committed to the security and confidentiality of your information.  Except as set out below, we do not share, sell, or disclose to third parties, any personally identifiable information collected via our web site.

1. Information collected

We collect and retain basic identification and contact information, such as your name and contact details.  This information is used:

• to provide you with the goods and/ or services which you have ordered;
• for invoicing and for maintaining our accounts;
• to enable us to answer your enquiries;
• for verifying your identity for security purposes;
• for marketing our services and products;
• to help make our web site as useful to you as possible.

Your IP address may be logged in order that we can track our site traffic statistics.  This is not used to contact you and is not sold to any third party.

Information which does not identify any individual may be used in a general way by us or third parties, to provide class information, for example relating to demographics or usage of a particular page or service.  Although we try to prevent this, information may be unlawfully obtained by hackers and snoopers.  The risk is no different from that in any other business and unfortunately we can accept no responsibility for this.

2. Cookies

We may use technology to track the patterns of behaviour of visitors to our web site.  This may include using a "cookie", which is a small data file which is sent from a web server to a web browser when that browser visits the server’s site.

This website uses cookies to enable certain functionality – specifically, to manage your login details and to make sure your logged in areas are secure, and to manage the event booking process. 

You may disable cookies by activating the setting on your browser which allows you to refuse the setting of cookies, however, switching off cookies will significantly restrict your use of our website.  

Your domain name and e-mail address are recognised by our servers and the pages that you visit are recorded.

This information is used:

 to send you news about the services to which you have signed up;

• to tell you about other of our services; and
• in a collective way not referable to any particular individual, for the purpose of quality control and improvement of our site.

3. Financial information

Financial information, including credit card detail, is used to obtain payment for goods and services you have ordered from us.  The page where this information is provided by you is controlled by our contract merchant service provider, Secure Hosting.  Such information is automatically encrypted before transmission.  It never reaches IDF or touches our system.  We are constantly vigilant for credit card or other fraud.  If you have any reason to seek the return of money paid, please contact us rather than your credit card issuer.

4. Other personal information
Information volunteered by you for a particular purpose, for example a personal profile or survey, will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it.  Information is disclosed to third parties only where the third party concerned qualifies in whatever way the web site page requires. 

5. Business information

Business information is information given to us in the course of your business and ours, such as in relation to your application to partner with us or advertise with us.  Such information is retained for business use only.  We undertake to preserve the confidentiality of the information and of the terms of our relationship.  It is not used for any other purpose.  We expect you and any partner to reciprocate this policy.

6. Disclosure to Government and related bodies

As regards disclosure to Government and their agencies, we may be required to give information to the relevant authorities if they demand it and if they have the proper authorisation, such as a search warrant or court order.

7. Your access to information

At any time you may review or update any identifiable personal information we may hold about you by contacting us at the address below.  To safeguard your information we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections to your information.
